Veneers can look the way you would like them to, shape, size and colour of the veneers are made to look as natural as possible and to your satisfaction.
Veneers can be made from 2 different types of materials either porcelain or composite. Porcelain veneers although usually last longer they are usually harder to repair- and if broken- the whole veneer usually needs to be replaced. Composite is easier to repair chairside however they might need to be re-done every 5-8 years as they can chip and stain easier over time. Your dentist shall discuss each with you in more detail to obtain the ideal result for you.
Veneers do not harm your teeth, but a small amount of tooth tissue may need to be taken off the front of the tooth to make space for the veneer, but this again is relevant on a case-by-case basis.
The procedure involves filing the front surface of the tooth (but not always) usually local anaesthetic is not needed but, in some cases, can be used to make you feel more comfortable. Then impressions are taken of the teeth and veneers fitted on the second appointment a few weeks later.
