At Bar Hill Dental Clinic, we use a home-based whitening product which involves taking impressions of your mouth to create custom made whitening trays. Once these have arrived the whitening gel is applied via the trays overnight to whiten your teeth. If done daily this can take a few days to a week to show a difference. Teeth whitening does not last forever, and so top up whitening gel may be needed after several months or years.
Contrary to belief teeth whitening is not harmful to teeth as it involves bleaching the teeth and not any form of tooth loss. Short lived sensitivity is the main side effect of teeth whitening however your dentist can discuss with you ways to prevent and limit this.
