Your dentist will be able to guide you as to which restoration would be of the ideal choice. Onlays again are done in two appointments, firstly to prep the tooth and then secondly a few weeks later to cement the onlay over the tooth.
Onlays can be made of many materials such as metal and gold (ideally for posterior teeth only) or can be made from tooth-coloured materials like porcelain and composite leaving a more natural looking result.
